While I've done a few media interviews, today I gave my first live "book talk" on An Ordinary Future. In contrast to other projects, which often build from years of academic conference presentations and journal articles, this was my first opportunity to present this work to an audience.
An Ordinary Future was a writing project I began during the COVID lockdowns of 2020, when I wasn't going to any conferences. Plus, given the uniqueness of the book, I didn't really pursue opportunities to present on this project when it was in development.
It's always stressful to prepare for these sorts of things, but in the end it seemed to go very well. I appreciated the excellent questions from the audience. I'm very grateful to the UW-Stout Archives and Area Research Center for hosting the event, and for the wonderful signage.
